Dengue profile
Quick answer: This package groups dengue blood tests, usually NS1 antigen with IgM and IgG antibodies. The exact list of tests in this package is available from the hospital. Doctors order it when you have a fever and dengue is suspected, to cover both early and later stages of infection.

What your results can mean
Reading your report
Each part is reported separately; your doctor reads them together with how many days you have had fever.
If the result is outside the usual range
A positive NS1 can point to early dengue, a positive IgM to infection from about day 5, and a positive IgG to a past or repeat infection. All negative early in fever does not fully rule dengue out.
Who usually has this test
People with fever and body aches in dengue season when the day of illness is unclear or both early and later markers are wanted.
Risks and aftercare
A small bruise is possible; rest, drink fluids and attend any platelet checks your doctor advises.

Questions about this test
Why test NS1 and antibodies together?
NS1 is useful in the first few days and antibodies later. Testing both covers more of the illness, especially if you are unsure when your fever started.
Is a platelet count part of the dengue profile?
Some packages include a blood count, and some do not. Ask the hospital what is in this package, as platelet monitoring is important in dengue.
Can the dengue profile be repeated?
Doctors sometimes repeat it if early results are negative but symptoms continue. Antibodies may turn positive a few days later.
