Questions about this test
Why is a scrotal scan done for male infertility?
When a semen test is abnormal, a scrotal scan can look for causes such as a varicocele, small testes or a blocked tube. It does not usually hurt and uses no radiation.
Can a scrotal scan show testicular cancer?
It can show a lump inside the testis and whether it looks solid. Blood tests and further assessment are needed, and most scrotal lumps turn out to be harmless.
Is sudden testicle pain an emergency?
Yes, sudden severe pain can be due to twisting of the testis, which needs urgent care within hours. Go to an emergency department rather than waiting for a booked scan.
