Questions about this test
Is a high eosinophil count serious?
Mild rises are common and often due to allergy or worms. Very high or long-lasting rises need further checks.
Can deworming lower the eosinophil count?
If worms are the cause, treatment often brings the count down. Your doctor will decide whether treatment is needed.
Does the time of day affect the eosinophil count?
Eosinophils are usually lower in the morning and higher at night. Repeat tests done at a similar time are easier to compare.
