Questions about this test
Do I need to avoid any foods before the test?
Older chemical tests can be affected by red meat, some vegetables and vitamin C, while newer antibody tests (FIT) are not. Follow the instructions given with your kit, and do not stop medicines without your doctor's advice.
Can piles cause a positive result?
Yes, bleeding piles or a small tear near the anus can cause a positive result. Your doctor may still suggest further tests to check for other causes.
Can I do the test during my period?
It is better to wait until a few days after your period ends, as menstrual blood can mix with the sample. Tell the staff if this is not possible.
