Questions about this test
Which medicines can cause drug-induced lupus?
Medicines such as hydralazine, procainamide, isoniazid and some others have been linked to it. Your doctor will review your medicines and decide what to do, so do not stop any yourself.
How is drug-induced lupus different from lupus?
It usually causes joint pain, muscle aches and fever, and less often affects the kidneys or brain. It often settles under a doctor's care once the trigger is dealt with.
Does a positive histone antibody always mean drug-induced lupus?
No. Many people with standard lupus also have histone antibodies. Your doctor reads it with your medicine history and tests such as anti-dsDNA.
