Questions about this test
Can exercise raise my CK result?
Yes. Hard workouts, long runs or heavy lifting can raise CK for several days. Tell your doctor about recent exercise.
Why is CK checked if I take a statin?
Statins can occasionally cause muscle problems. A CK test helps your doctor decide if muscle aches are related, but do not stop the medicine without advice.
What is rhabdomyolysis?
It is a serious breakdown of muscle that releases very high CK and can harm the kidneys. It needs urgent care.
