What your results can mean
Reading your report
Results are often given as a level that is tracked over time; your doctor will explain what your result means.
If the result is outside the usual range
A detected result can point to chronic myeloid leukaemia or some acute leukaemias. In people on treatment, falling levels show a response, and rising levels can signal the need to review treatment.
Who usually has this test
People with a very high white cell count or suspected CML, and people with CML being monitored on treatment.
Risks and aftercare
Bruising is possible; keep taking any treatment as prescribed.
